St Margaret's College

On Monday 13 May 2013 the new chapel, auditorium and gymnasium complex at St Margaret's College were officially opened by the Governor-General and blessed by Bishop Victoria Matthews.

With St Margaret's sustaining earthquake damage to 80% of its buildings, this has been a major rebuild project in the heart of the school both physically and symbolically. It has also been one of the first major redevelopments post-earthquake in Christchurch city. The gymnasium is built to international standards and the auditorium/chapel can seat in excess of 700 people.

Hanham & Philp is immensely proud of this large complex for the College's campus. The building work commenced with the drilling of 150 piles going down 5 storeys, to ensure a very solid and well-founded building. This is an iconic build for Hanham & Philp and one from which the school and wider community will get great enjoyment for many years to come.
